In this season of Thanksgiving, I am realizing a new sense
of abundance in my life, and the experience of cancer has much to do with this
awareness. I’m especially grateful for…
The love and partnering that Jess and I share.
A deeper sense of connection with my family.
The caring and compassion of our friends and community.
Cancer survivors who have shared their stories with me –
they are both proof and inspiration that cancer is not an automatic death
sentence and that it is possible to have a long and fulfilling life with
cancer.
My doctors and their staffs have combined strength and
knowledge, along with an integrated care approach that gives us constant
reassurance that we are in the best hands possible.
Appreciation for all the ordinary little things in life
becoming so awesome while contemplating how brief our lives are in the overall
scheme of things.
The occasional grace that allows for dropping into heartfelt
communion with others and letting all kinds of trivia just fall away.
That I’m old enough to truly appreciate all of this journey,
even, in an odd way, this part (some days more than others).
